Will You Be My Valentine: D.I.Y Decor and More

So here we are two weeks away from the day of "Love" or the most mass marketed holiday. This holiday can bring up feelings of joy and excitement, but it can also bring up feelings of resentment and hate. No matter the side of the fence you sit on (the middle like me), you may have an inkling to decorate for the holiday, or need to get some Valentine's put together for your child's class. I've compiled a list of some budget friendly D.I.Y Decor and handmade Valentine ideas, some I have done myself, and other's I have found in the bottomless pit of ideas also known as Pinterest,

Decor: Even with Dollar store's having amazing selections of craft supplies and seasonal decor it can be easy to go spend a ton of money where it isn't needed. I wanted to decorate for the 'Holiday' my reasons can be found in my previous post The Hallmark Holiday. I also didn't want to break the bank doing so. I love my kids and would do anything for them, but bankru…

Will you Be My Valentine: The "Hallmark Holiday"

As I sit here scheduling things in my planner I realized that Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Valentine's Day, or as I like to call it the "Hallmark Holiday" is either loved or hated. I truthfully have never really liked it. I'm not a huge fan. My husband and I have never really celebrated it, other than our first year together, many moons ago. I'm not the the type of girl who loves getting bouquets of flowers. I see the romance in the gesture but it's just not me. To me who looks at things on the practical side, sees it as a waste of money. You are paying for flowers that are going to 1) make me sneeze, and 2) die in week. Gee Thanks I get watch these flowers die as a sign of your affection for me? No Thanks. Besides, why do we need a specific holiday to tell someone we love them. Can't we just do that any old day of the week? Some may call me cynical, but that's just who I am.

In the past, I never really decorated for Valentine's…

Caelan's Journey: Part 1 The First Diagnosis

One of the reason's I started Mommy Dearest and blogging again was to share our journey. Though our life in pictures on Social Media looks very much normal, it isn't and I wanted to give a glimpse behind closed doors.

Our oldest son Caelan has High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder and 2 other Comorbid Disorders, A.D.H.D Combined Type (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder -CADDRA)1 and G.A.D (General Anxiety Disorder) . [Comorbid[koh-mawr-bid]- Adjective 1. Prior to having any official diagnosis in the household my husband and I were very ignorant to any of these, it wasn't because we didn't want t…

Tripping Over Toys!

Have you ever tripped over toy or stepped on a Lego? It's like extreme conditioning training and a part of parenthood. I would rather walk on hot coals than step on a tiny piece of Lego. It is a pain like no other. Often I find myself dodging toys, snack containers, and sippy cups. That is the life of a parent. Even after I have cleaned like no other and the place is sparkling within a couple of minutes my toddler has destroyed the room. Toys about and him happily playing with the final toy he found after dumping the entire toy box out.
So here am I last night I finished my school work and tackled the dishes that were staring at me from the sink. The same ones that I said earlier could wait til later. Later is now and I might as well get them done while I am still standing here in the kitchen. I'm exhausted and I’m calling it a night. I have one more mission and that is to move my littlest from the living room where he has fallen asleep, to bed.
He’s a light sleeper so I must …

Holiday Aftermath Clean Up Challenge

Well here we are in 2018. I don't know about you but I'm still stuck in a "Holidaze" too many celebrations, big meals and lazy days. In my previous post Hello 2018 I talked about some of the goals I want to achieve for 2018, however before I can even begin to make head way on those goals I need to organize my house.
I like to start a New Year off with what I like to call a "Holiday Aftermath Clean-up". Let's face it all those holiday goodies need a home. Even with all the holiday decor put away until next holiday season my house is still stuck in this Holiday mess.
Below is the list of things I like to tackle to really get a fresh start on the New Year. Beware it is a pretty lengthy list. It doesn't have to be done in a day either. This is why I am turning this into a challenge. Last year a friend of mine did a similar challenge in the spring. Each Day a new task was posted on Facebook and you would post before and after pictures in the comments. I p…
